@inautilo anyone who thinks css is simple probably hasn't tried to write anything complex with it.

CSS was the beginning of the end of the simple website. Once the "separation of content and style" crowd got their claws into html it was only a matter of time before we had MVC forced upon us as "best practice".

@inautilo 10 years ago Steve Jobs said “Flash is buggy,” a battery hog and a product created by lazy developers. Then Apple invented Flash 2.0 - better known as iOS Apps. They are proprietary, don't use web standards, poor for SEO, built on one platform, only available in one app store and 100% controlled by one company. If they don't like you, you are out! And if they do like you, you pay a 30% tax. Remember every time you use an iOS app you are choosing to kill the open web. #HTML #CSS #JS

@inautilo I was a web designer in the 90s. I taught myself from a book by Laura Lemay and by looking at other website code. I never learned CSS because I couldn’t figure it out (ie it wasn’t simple). I coded all my websites with notepad.exe. If I wasn’t near a computer, sometimes I wrote it out by hand on paper. The internet was a much smaller place back then.

@inautilo Which is not only true because JS is a monster, but also funny because HTML and CSS by themselves, too, are large and complex beasts.
