Ever since I quit Google I've stopped receiving junk emails, used to come about 10 a day and would end up in promotions folder, or updates, or socials, which google created. Now, I get nothing. Only newsletters, some of which are industry related so I don't mind them.

I now use @protonprivacy The downside is inability to log into separate email addresses. Everything comes into one inbox. I use filters to organize each email in its own inbox folder, but its still a little clumsy, and even clumsier when I try to use Bridge and separate the addresses in Thunderbird, because @thunderbird doesn't handle the folders well and looks very cluttered. If Proton can fix this, it will be a game changer. Privacy needs to go with along efficiency for businesses.

@dilmandila @protonprivacy @thunderbird I haven't figured out how to make Thunderbird handle Proton Mail.
@carturo222 @protonprivacy @thunderbird For a moment I thought I was alone, perhaps not techie enough..... But hope a solution comes up sometime soon
@carturo222 @dilmandila @protonprivacy For paid users, Proton Mail provides a bridge that lets you use it with Thunderbird! https://proton.me/support/protonmail-bridge-clients-windows-thunderbird/

Proton
@protonprivacy @carturo222 @thunderbird My complaint is that Thunderbird doesn't handle proton folders well, and leads to a lot of clutter and more inconvenience since it creates duplicate folders under each email address
@dilmandila @protonprivacy @carturo222 It looks like Proton recommends editing folders on the webmail side and letting them sync through the bridge, rather than the other way around: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/vtd7jy/creating_new_folders_and_subfolders_from_within/
@dilmandila that’s really interesting! I’ve never had a problem with junk mail using my old-school Apple email address (.Mac) but now I wonder if it’s because I’ve never had a Gmail address. I’ve have lots of friends who complain all the time about spam and they use Google products.
@wilder Definately google is to blame. Even workspace accounts, though they don't get actual Ads, get a lot of junk mail that now I believe are Ads
