We have a new email from our dear friend Jonathan Harker! He's doing well and is getting along with the Count. I'm sure his boss, and Mina, will be pleased.

One thing I like about #Dracula is how Stoker wants to compare the modern and rational with the old and superstitious, and uses modern technology to do this. I've read the book many times, but this is the first time I noticed Jonathan had "taken with my kodak views of it [Carfax] from various points." He has a camera. Neat! #DraculaDaily

@mfennvt I noticed that for the first time too. (Second time reading Dracula; this is my first time following #DraculaDaily). I went looking because Kodak wasn't capitalized in the text and I wasn't sure it was not referring to something else. Sure enough, Johnathan Harker owned a Kodak brand camera.

I was surprised to find in my second reading of Dracula Daily that Jonathan has canonically taken pictures of Dracula's home in England with a Kodak camera! I didn't realize this since the name was nā€¦
