💔 Two-time European weightlifting champion #Oleksandr_Peleshenko died in the war against #Russia

This was announced by the coach of the #Ukrainian weightlifting team, #Viktor_Slobodyaniuk.

#Peleshenko died on Sunday, May 5, during combat operations. The #Ukrainian weightlifter joined the ranks of the #Ukrainian army in 2022.

#Alexander was 30 years old at the time of his death. The weightlifter competed in major international tournaments from 2015 to 2017, after which he was suspended from the competition in 2018 due to a positive doping test that revealed the banned substance chlorthalidone in his body. The suspension of the weightlifter expired in 2026.
