saw some nice #trees ( ◜‿◝ )♡ #treesofmastodon
@Heliograph Any idea what they are. I love how they look. 🥰
@Pineywoozle very likely Norfolk pines that's the most prevalent tall conifer around here ☺️ lovely kept aren't they
@Heliograph Very pretty! Have you ever seen a Monkey Puzzle tree? They always look like a Danish modern sculpture to me. They got tired of the Dino’s eating them and evolved massively thick spikey needles to survive. This isn’t my photo but it’s lovely. I’ve only ever seen one in person at Kew, but it didn’t disappoint. #Trees
@Pineywoozle we call them #Araucaria bidwillii or #bunyapine ☺️ they're majestically aren't they
#treesofmastodon
@Heliograph LoL I love Funky trees.
@Heliograph Just looked it up. Those are some huge pine cones lol. They could do a bit of damage if they hit ya. It does look kind of like a Monkey Puzzle tree no wonder they call it a False Monkey Puzzle tree.
@Pineywoozle your dino reference reminded me of magnolias which were around before bees so they had to cater for beetles ☺️

I once planted some past-their-best parsnips in the garden from the fridge. I figured they'd either grow or compost. They grew. They flowered.

Ants pollinated them. The plants were covered in columns of ants trooping up to the flowers and back down.

Eventually they produced seeds. So many seeds they tried to overrun the whole garden.

@davidtheeviloverlord @Heliograph @Pineywoozle I once ended up with a potato growing in a kitchen cupboard. I completely forgot about it until I felt this shoot sticking out under the door and had no idea what the hell it was. I sort of wish I planted it.

@KaraLG84 @Heliograph @Pineywoozle

I've planted a potato that was growing in the cupboard.

There are little potatoes growing where the parsnips once roamed.
