The first-ever driverless car race didn't go so well

instead of having space for a driver in the cockpit, the A2RL cars has an array of cameras, sensors and computers to drive the car.

At times, cars spun wildly on the straights, turned randomly into barriers and crashed in spectacular style.

The first race of the new Autonomous Racing League took place in Abu Dhabi — and it had plenty of random crashes
