Helps me rationalize Biden's age thing.
@sandlapper37 I mean... You're choosing between a bus that is happy to murder children and innocent people and.... another bus with a driver happy to murder children and innocent people. It's like asking which massmurderer is the best one. Maybe some people don't like getting on the bus with murderers. Maybe you need another system of public transportation where you can get on a bus NOT driven by massmurderers.
@shinyturtle @sandlapper37 In the case of the US the killers wear different colors and people are happy to vote for one of the 2 killers. It is a values thing I guess. They share the same values as their political over lords.

@shinyturtle @sandlapper37 Welcome to America, where in the 1860's the Republican party discovered it could be just a racist and make shitloads of money by making guns, and because they have the guns, and the money (and they make babies), no one's yet figured out a way to stop them.

Ideas?

@janisf @sandlapper37 I want the USA to be dismantled like the Soviet union was. They have literally had their hand in EVERY country, manipulating them, inserting puppet leaders. They have spied on us. The start must be to speak openly about how evil the government is. Can we change anything? No. Not now, maybe not for a long time after I'm dead. But as someone who has had their eyes opened, the amount of violence and death the US is directly responsible for is staggering.

@shinyturtle @sandlapper37 The soviet Union was pretty broke when it fell apart. The US thinks it's pushing a pretty good political system in which all the people purportedly work toward fighting things out with words & elections, while finding out the hard way that you can't get traction on that by force, or even if the right (rich) 40% of your electorate think force is necessary.

We need to topple the tower, but that isn't the entire US, just as Hamas isn't Palestine.

@shinyturtle @sandlapper37

That's a nice safe, I-dont-have-to-vote-because they-all-suck position.

Time to do the best you can to protect what you can. One person's opinion.

@Sfwmson @sandlapper37 I just wanted to speak for those who might not find it easy to actively support genocide. It isn't as simple as "getting on the best bus". I don't have to vote, because I'm not American. But to have to vote for a mass murderer and having said mass murderer take that as evidence of him being correct.. Giving him more power. It is not about policy or politics. You need a new system. Can you, personally make one? No But your nation is a poison to democracy. To peace.

@shinyturtle @sandlapper37

It's a very complicated issue. I will say my business remark was a little flippant.

I don't know how to explain it with out having people draw the conclusion you did.

Getting Donald Trump will empower Netayahu further. Half the terrible powers in the world are rooting for Trump to win.

We cannot allow it.

Maybe that didn't explain it any better, but that's how I feel.

@Sfwmson @sandlapper37 That's okay. We all get heated with this issue. Was not telling you not to vote for Biden. It's a broken system. You can only piss into the wind, so to speak. Just want there to be an awareness that this need to change, I guess.
@sandlapper37 neither option is going anywhere near where I want to go, in fact they are both heading in the completely wrong direction ☺️
@cozymel @sandlapper37
Both heading in the wrong direction or about to drive off a cliff edge, to continue the analogy
@cozymel Then you must start your own bus company or move somewhere that bus operates.
@sandlapper37 lol wth does this even mean? And tbqh it's kind of insulting that you have reduced this situation to a quirky analogy about buses when people are currently losing their friends and families to genocide conducted by a group of people who have free healthcare and education while the foreign taxpayers funding the genocide are themselves struggling to put food on the table. But sure let's all vote and sing kumbaya so things don't get "bad" for people with privilege
@sandlapper37 If the only available bus will only take you farther from your destination than where you currently are, you don’t get on the bus, you walk or try to find a bike or car you can use. Or you picket outside the transit agency and demand that they provide more useful routes. Voting for Democrats works for the average American about as well as relying on public transportation in the suburbs. Voting for the lesser evil is often necessary but never sufficient.
@sandlapper37 right. Then you take the broken bus. Then you take the bus full of bigots. Then you take the bus that's going only one degree closer to your home than the other bus. And then you wake up one morning you wind up with a choice of a senile geriatric and a geriatric sociopath.
@sandlapper37 ...and if you want to go west, don't get on an eastbound bus.
@sandlapper37 unfortunately for many, you have the awkward task of choosing the bus that takes you the _least_ away from your destination.
@sandlapper37 Gosh, I heard things like that for thirty years. Thing is, there are only two bus lines in the US of A, and both of them go in the opposite direction from where I want to go. Sure, one of them goes straight to hell, and the other one goes there much slowly, but either way I get further from my goal.

@TomSwirly @sandlapper37 yup, I remember this sentiment from when I voted against Bush with the overwhelming majority of Americans but he still became the president after losing both the popular vote and the election.

Even though I've voted in every single election, and told people they should vote in every single election, I still get told I'm telling people not to vote when I criticize the electoral college.

@sandlapper37 And when they're all resolutely going the wrong way?
Just walk?
@sandlapper37 yeah. I wonder how this applies to voting in the USA this year. One candidate is proud of selling weapons to a genocidal group, one is apparently collapsing into even more paranoia and tried to overturn the state, and one is a bundle of unsupportable attitudes. How do you vote?
@sandlapper37 Works well enough when the buses actually go even in the direction you want to go. None of them do
@sandlapper37 couldn't disagree more. A vote shouldn't be left open to manipulation, to be taken by default. People keep selling the garbage a vote shouldn't be earned. If I don't see anything of value I still must spend. No vote has meaning. It diminishes the formulas created to forge unearned votes, a whole science dedicated to this. We constantly this nonsense that no vote is a wasted vote. No itr's not, it is a vote for better choices need to be presented.
@TAI @sandlapper37 not voting has no meaning. What actually, has meaning is voting invalid, it kinda says you don't like anything on the list.
@sandlapper37 Not if both available busses are going only to Hell you don't. In that case you walk or bike

@sandlapper37
I would love to see some of the tortured logic some of your replies would apply to the "trolly problem".

Not choosing is a choice.

Throwing up your hands because there isn't a better choice is fantabulism of the worst sort.

@sandlapper37 and if you have enough money you can just ignore the entire system and have a private chauffeur drive you wherever you need to go.

Also with the current state of public transportation in the US this is a surprisingly good metaphor

@sandlapper37 good advice and if you are still unhappy with how far off the current buses will get you, you can make your own bus company or join another and change it’s course
@sandlapper37 Or at least the one not going in the opposite direction at 60 mph
@sandlapper37 Unfortunately, they're all driving off the end of the pier.
@linuxgnome So, where does that leave us?
@sandlapper37 @linuxgnome
Not getting to where we want to be, but that was the point of breaking the transport system in the first place.
@sandlapper37 Yeh, but public transport in America sucks.

@sandlapper37 This is the political pragmatism that got me called a "corporatist Dem" by the far left. I'm just as progressive as they are but I also know change does not always happen quickly. NOBODY knows this truth as much as black Americans.

#voteblue #saveDemocracy #BibenHarris2024 #uspol #uspolitics #Democrats

@sandlapper37 And when public transport isn't going your way (or you can't afford it), you make another plan. If it's going part of the way, you make a plan for the rest.
@sandlapper37 If all the buses are going straight to hell I'll stay at home & complain (not sulk)
@Spectraliser My thought is they (the buses) are escaping hell. Home will be hell if no action is taken.
@sandlapper37
And do remember, the other bus would take you and Democracy to Hell.
@Island_Martha That's the Orange Line, which you avoid at all cost.
@sandlapper37
Exactly, if you have even half a brain cell... which is more than it does.
