WKCR News Coverage: CUAD Students Occupying Columbia | WKCR 89.9FM NY

WKCR is recommending those with access to FM signal will get better and more reliable quality, due to "wildly unprecedented" number of people tuning in via stream.

Apparently, radio apps (rather than streaming directly from their website) will also work better.

The revolution may not be televised.

But at the very least, this police action is being broadcast.

(And as type that last bit, streaming signal drops out.)

Yep:

Police advancing from multiple fronts. Onlooking students fleeing.

Word is that number of NYPD officers far outnumbers number of protesters. City tax dollars that could be going to vital services.

Police telling WKCR reporters to leave the vicinity. All paths are barricaded by police. When asked where they are to go, the cop demanding they leave just shrugged.

Press are being escorted off the premises, so that there will not be anyone to document police action at Hamilton Hall.

Police have equipment to breach Hamilton Hall through third floor windows, and are armed with sledgehammers at building they only just barricaded from the outside.

Press likewise being moved away from West Lawn.

Reports of tear gas.

"Fund them. Fund them. Fund them with resources and training. Resources and training, they need to protect their community. I ask Democrats and Republicans alike to pass my budget and keep our neighborhoods safe."

Tear-gasing students.

This is VBNMW.

The Columbia website was, for 10 minutes, telling students they were not authorized to access the Campus Security page.

This as a memo went up stating that police had been requested to maintain an ongoing deployment on campus until two days after commencement.

#Columbia has declared martial law.

"Some police entered with their guns drawn..." ~ Washington Post reporting on Hamilton Hall, #Columbia.

Also, the "professional outside agitators" is a funny way of saying "solidarity".

Just sayin'.

Dean of the School of Journalism being threatened with arrest.

Yep.

@beadsland

While the journalism students are trapped inside Pulitzer Hall, not allowed to go outside to report on anything.
