I have a friend who proudly claims to be a Christian Republican and that being gay is a sin and wrong. Then he will say in the same breath that he is gay and mean it. I have never seen something of the sort and it nearly shorts my wires. Idk what’s going on there but its the same vibe.
I mean…according to the bible it IS a sin and wrong. But have you ever really read that thing? Technically were not allowed to go to the bathroom.
It’s not even originally in the Bible’s original meaning the prohibitions and references to gay sex originally just said pedophilic sex and it was changed to target gay people instead of their own clergy.
Turns out when you’re the only one reading the book, you can take “divine inspiration” and make a few tweaks to update the book to what magical sky daddy really meant. Same goes for those translating the books…

What do you mean “originally”? Did it get translated and the translation changed the meaning? Or is this the original language of the Bible had multiple versions?

If it’s the latter, I find that interesting as that is never discussed.

The council of Nicea in Rome decided which books would be canon in the Bible
Emperor Constantine Did NOT Choose the Books of the Bible

YouTube

Well I have multiple sources in my past that have proven it to me and you have a YouTube video.

I will watch it later, but it will have to be a hell of a video to change my mind, but one should always be open to change

Well, the guy in the video has a PhD and is a scholar of religious studies, so I’m inclined to believe him. I have also seen sources in my past that have shown it to be untrue, if that’s what were using as evidence.
Did you miss the last part where I said I’m open to change
Yes 🙂. Sorry for the snarl.
Happens to the best of us. Lol
I’m curious if you watched the video and if it persuaded you or not. Like you, I’m open to change if I find better information on a subject
I honestly forgot about it.
It’s a translation thing. If you look at the Greek and Hebrew texts, the verses in Leviticus are likely talking about pedastry and not homosexuality, given the phrasing and historical context.
That’s what I was thinking. Makes you wonder if there was intentionality in changing the words, or if it was something else. Or maybe it was god working though the translator.
100% intentional. The original kony Greek makes it clear it’s about men fucking little boys. If they wanted to write don’t have sex with other men they would have written that.

kony

… koine?

Speach to text rarely is as intelligent as the user intends. Yes I had meant Koiné Greek
The Bible is rarely translated accurately afaik, and one of the big translations (the kjv) is basically entirely bullshit agenda pushing from a single specific king in Europe.
