Snipers were also on roofs at Ohio State all day today.

Ohio State students repelled several attempts at dispersal by cops until late into the night.

Students reported a larger police presence for a protest of a few hundred, than is typical for football games which draws 100k+ fans.

If you've been following along today, you probably can guess what happened next...

Of course a column of cops in riot gear attempted to storm into the crowd and began violently arresting peaceful protesters.

Reportedly 15 arrests so far.

What was the crime the militarized police were on Ohio State's campus to crack down on?

Well if you rewind time maybe we see the terror, panic and chaos caused by some students walking from the Student Union to the big grass quad on a nice day.

What you can't see a reason? I guess you're just not fascist enough 🤷🏿‍♂️

There was a pretty hilarious moment at Ohio State when an uncover cop was spotted by the crowd.

Guy stuck out like a sore thumb. Actually, dude kinda looked like a thumb.

Update on the sniper claim. The school is lying about these sharp shooters on the roofs not having rifles.

Multiple folks OTG at Ohio State reported seeing those creeps on the roof caring rifle bags to and from the roof.

More clear photos have been posted since the school started lying and no those dudes were armed. Their rifles were just not visible at all times.

Now of course they will claim these police snipers are doing overwatch to "protect the protesters" presumably from the sorts of violent thugs that have started showing up at other campuses.

But I for one absolutely think these details primary job is intimidating peaceful protesters.

When Seattle's 2020 protests occurred our cops did the same thing only when it got dark they used their visible laser sights to illuminate and intimidate individual peaceful protesters.

Anywho this whole "Ohio State not using snipers" lie is an excellent case study of why I trust reports from protesters OTG a million times more than any BS police account that a journalist prints without scrutiny.

As a note, a lot of times the people who make these critical observations or have the smoking gun photos get arrested at the protest. It can take hours and days to get those photos while folks are in jail. I trust OTG comrades and patiently await updates when they're able.

@nullagent I had a grenade launcher pointed at me at the 2004 Boston Democratic National Convention. How do I know? My fellow legal observer had just come back from deployment in Iraq. He pointed it out.
@nullagent Snipers have been common at large protests that I've been to since the first Gulf War. I always look for them.

@D_J_Nathanson @nullagent I saw snipers at a protest at the US-Canada border ~1999.

The contrast was kinda funny tbh: Mounties showed up like it was a picnic, Border Patrol brought riot gear and snipers. The Canadians thought it was hilariously American: "they know they're pointing guns at the people who don't have guns, right?"

@opendna @D_J_Nathanson @nullagent @nullagent I saw snipers on tops of buildings at every peaceful protest in 2020. At one protest police blocked the exits to the park, told everyone to leave, then tear gassed/rubber bullet shot everyone who didn't leave fast enough. I wasn't super surprised about that during the Trump administration, but am pissed Biden hasn't said anything about protecting protesters
@D_J_Nathanson @nullagent
The same 40 mm launchers are used for lethal antipersonnel grenade munitions, as for "less lethal" tear gas canister and rubber bullet munitions. Whether it's a grenade launcher or a tear gas launcher is just a question of what munitions were issued to the wielder.
@dragonfrog @nullagent I am aware and was aware at the time. It’s not comforting. At all.

@D_J_Nathanson @nullagent

I cannot imagine it would have been.

@dragonfrog @D_J_Nathanson @nullagent

Rubber bullets kill.

Just, so we all know they are not a benign alternative to munitions.

@Edelruth @D_J_Nathanson @nullagent
Absolutely, that's why even the arms manufacturers don't call them "non-lethal".
@nullagent What kind of person does one have to be to be a sniper on that roof or that 'undercover' cop?!

@aerique @nullagent The undercover cops at protests are the guys who train for riot control are the guys who want to be badass are the guys who weight train are the guys look like casting asked for a meathead cop.

If they sent something else, like a financial crimes cop, we probably wouldn't pick them out.

@nullagent If I get THAT kind of clip, from that point on I assume I am a target and will either watch the escape routes if I have "home field advantage" or bail out at the first opportunity if not. Having the bike is a major advantage in this.

Only once did cops succeeded in stopping me at a protest where I potentially had (but actually missed) the clips that would have shot down their later courtroom lies. It was too dark for the camera I had but the cops didn't know that. Our 15 person patrol had engaged a Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS/vivisection) contractor exec with a night home demo. We thought this was a suprise but it was not. This was one week after a City Council member had blown up at us on seeing us near another home demo, so they were on hair trigger alert. We were ambushed by 75 cops and the target's security guard husband. He charged out the door and later lied in court saying we had charged into the house. My camera was trained on this, but getting nothing in the dark.

Cops went after me immediatly. I hopped on the bike and sprinted away, pouring on full power to that road bike under max adrenaline. Then I found out that in this remote location off Military Road there was no cover to be found. The chase lasted about 15 minutes and shut down Military Road. Even a blown rear tire didn't stop me. Cops were not permitted to ram, so they had to sprint ahead in their cars, then try to jump out on me but I expected that and dodged them every time. Riding on the sidewalk limited their pullin choices to driveways. Finally, with power running out, I realized I was not able to break contact this way, and decided to head into the woods, not knowing about the 35 foot cliff the trail went over! I was tackled 5 feet from the edge, a cop tried to knee me out and failed, and in the end they decided not to arrest or charge me because this had gotten way too hot for them on a protest matter. They feared retribution from other protesters if anything bad happened to me, and realized the close escape they had just had. Once again I had effectively bought the pot in a casino of cops and courts.

Had I gone over that edge with or without that cop hanging on, I would have been killed by an out of control landing on stones 35 feet down. That in turn would have brought out news trucks, getting HLS and their contractor a shitload of bad press. Probably the contractor in question would have dumped HLS under that storm of bad publicity. That in turn would have cut off HLS's access to chemicals and lab equipment, probably killing the lab in 2009 instead of 2023! This would have been worth it to me and most certainly not to the cops. No arrest and no tampering with the camera or any of the evidence on the camera card. The camera in question turned out to be worthless in such a dark place, but that one's on me.

@nullagent What. The. Fuck.

In my youth, we all idolized America. Grew up with American television series and cartoons. One day, every one of us would like to visit the US.

2024: Still haven't gone to visit the US and I probably never ever will. What a fascist shitshow. Geebus fucking fuck. And here we have parties that like to follow the US' example. Fucking no.

@nullagent the Sontarans from Doctor Who are not very effective at undercover work
@nullagent always important to get this footage. When protestors sue, this will help them win.

@nullagent Lucky for those cops that things are so calm and peaceful in the broader area that they can afford to spend all day harassing students.

It’d be a shame if trouble popped up elsewhere.

@nullagent it's just ohio state. what's the worst that could happen?
