Ukaliusaq, polar kæruld, Arctic bog cotton, in the low spring sun.

Our GNSS buoys in the glacier mélange are named after birds, fish and mammals and our snow site sensors are named after plants. I don't speak Greenlandic at all (yet), but this is a great way to learn a few words...

I hope to start a course in Greenlandic lamguage later this year, but I admit it's tough to fit everything on and the Greenlandic spoken in Qaanaaq is not often taught. It's a very different dialect I'm told.

Yes, in Qaanaaq Northern Greenlandic (#Inuktun) is spoken. If you want to learn a bit of #Kalaallisut (Western Greenlandic), this is a nice place to start:

A few words are derived from Danish, so it is easy to say "good morning": Kumoorn :)
