BREAKING: USA vetoes a widely supported UN resolution backing full UN membership for Palestine. 140 of 193 UN member states already support Palestinian statehood.

12 nations voted yes, UK & Switzerland abstained, USA killed the resolution with a veto.

USA's veto lacks justice.

@QasimRashid
As an American, I am ashamed.

@QasimRashid Sometimes actions expose raw political ley lines of what power actually cares about. Especially when they are hypocritically inconsistent with values previously promoted.

We have a better than usual view recently from actions on Palestinian genocide as well as covid.

@QasimRashid When free speech and academic meritocracy is being overridden, you are being given information about what motivates the authorities to exercise their use of power in such a blatant and contradictory way.

'Let her speak!' USC campus reels after valedictorian's speech is canceled

On Wednesday, a smattering of protesters gathered by the landmark Tommy Trojan statue, some calling on USC President Carol Folt to reverse course as arguments broke out between those on opposing sides.

@QasimRashid Honestly who are the leaders of the proposed Palestinian state? The PA is denounced by almost everyone as deeply corrupt. Hamas is committed to the destruction of Israel. Why not give ISIS statehood?
@JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid Most American politicians are deeply corrupt & warmongering. Hell, most politicians in general are. If that's an impediment to having internationally recognized statehood, it's a wonder any nation has it at all.
@JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid The State of Palestine is not related to the Palestinian Authority. The president is Mahmoud Abbas, leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Wikipedia exists.

@blake And who is the president of the Palestinian Authority?

You say "Wikipedia exists" yet the
article about the PA literally has this in the lead:

Since January 2013, the Palestinian Authority has used the name "State of Palestine" on official documents@JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid

Palestinian National Authority - Wikipedia

@mima @JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid Digging for evidence to support my original point, I come across the answer to your first question. Even Wikipedia makes the point hard to come by, that the "State of Palestine" is indeed headed by the PA. It seems to function as a militant political party, with Hamas being the other one.

I can safely assume based on your attitude towards the PA, then, that you do not support state recognition for Palestine, and that tells me all I need to know about you.

@JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid

There are shorter ways of telling everyone youโ€™re a racist asshole, but not many.

@JosephSmith3130 @QasimRashid Exactly what I thought.

The fake-ass "left" isn't interested in reality. Just bumper-sticker sloganeering and fake moral "outrage" for social media "likes".
@QasimRashid Mozambique said 140 countries had already recognized Palestine. They did in 1988!!!
@QasimRashid Biden doing his best to make sure come November Trump has a chance, by keeping more of his own voters home. Maybe the donors don't want Biden to win in a landslide, thus make it a close call to get ratings up or their hedging right or just want a Trump win, why else?.
@htpcnz @QasimRashid They don't want to win, they want to fight so they can say they need donations.
@QasimRashid this is really effed up.
@QasimRashid didn't expect Switzerland to be so lacking in morals too
@QasimRashid
You'd think it'd be a majority wins situation, it can't be a collective of nations deciding things if one country controls what passes and what doesn't.
@QasimRashid All our talk of a "two-state solution" is just a big pile of lies.
@QasimRashid America knows nothing of justice
