Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced an amendment requiring members to “conscript in the Ukrainian military” if they vote for the Ukraine supplemental bill.

2/ Reminder, and I say this as a former comedy writer/director/performer:

Humor often reaches people where Serious doesn't. It creates an intimacy almost immediately with the audience.

It's useful.

So what looks like a "waste of time" is actually serving a purpose (big footing the GOP in the news cycle) at a moment when the GOP Fascist Party prevents normal process of legislation.

Just my 2 cents.

There, also, are times in a trial where the attorneys momentarily disarm and just laugh at the immediate circumstances. Sometimes it happens when the judge points out the ludicrous positions taken by each side. Believe me, the attorneys well appreciate the temporary reprieve from combat.
