I read that you taught the FINN courses at UW. What resources or materials did you find were the most successful for new students? Were FINN 101 students instantly jumping into textbooks like Suomen Mestari?

Hei! I guess it depends a lot on the teacher and the group dynamics, but typically I would integrate the book as part of the activities from early on. It can be useful for learners as it provides a backbone that can be extended and elaborated but where it's simultaneously feels natural to get back to. So yes, early on but definitely not as the only material (I for one am/was always including aurhentic stuff from day 1).
