The Google One VPN service is heading to the Google graveyard

Google is shutting down its VPN by Google One service less than four years after it was rolled out in October 2020, because โ€œpeople simply werenโ€™t using it.โ€

@protonprivacy Yeah... Never trusted that one in the first place! XD
@protonprivacy
Google killing another service? No way! After buzz, wave, allo, G+, inbox, stadia, etc, etc, you'd have to be crazy to sign up for a new Google service even if they weren't a privacy nightmare.
@ipxfong @protonprivacy don't forget about Google Hangouts, Google Video and Google Play Music! Google won't stop killing its services!
@protonprivacy There is something GoogleVPN does that ProtonVPN does not. It could be configured to use a VPN connection all the time EXCEPT when on cellular data or whitelisted (e.g. home) wifi. Waiting (for years) for #ProtonVPN to support that very useful feature.

@protonprivacy They never launched their VPN services for Indian consumers. ๐Ÿ˜ค However, it really sucks when I paid to get the magic editor feature only to discover they are doling it out for free. ๐Ÿ˜’ #VPNfail #BaitandSwitch
@protonprivacy although, the google VPN service will be discontinued soon
