One of the most irritating current tech industry trends is the feigned martyrdom and grievance politics of pretending media is *too* critical of tech. Journalists have been too soft on big tech! And worse, the crybaby behavior about it has spread from the thin-skinned VCs to all kinds of early-career folks. Exact same propaganda technique as MAGA.

@anildash It’s so frustrating to hear things like “media has an institutional anti-tech bias!!!”

One, yes, that’s literally the job, to be skeptical of power, especially at times of huge social change.

Two, they aren’t out to get “tech” — no one’s railing against HTTP or the concept of machine learning. The, as you note, far-too-late reckoning is all about how corporations use tech to make life for ordinary people worse.

@anildash Hey early-career folks, wait until you find out about negligent product management for software responsible for irrevocable actions.
@anildash any questioning, any reaction other than praise is “an attack”
@anildash The kids have a right to vest and exit on acquisition just like their grandparents did! (I agree completely, it’s irritating, and even say toxic.)
