@ct_bergstrom I'm sorry, did you say handheld? Doesn't that lens weigh like, 5 lbs?

Also, incredible shots! Much better than I could resolve with my comparatively-dinky 200mm lens 😅

@Ongion Yes but I usually shoot birds handheld with this setup so comparatively speaking the sun was easy.

Oooh - those are great, those are!

I immediately started wondering if it would be possible to match up the prominences with Solar Dynamics Observatory imagery. And after some quick hacking about in Photoshop, the answer is: yes, yes it is. Rotate by about 64 degrees, and things line up pretty well. (Image times were a vague guess...)
