As I remember, it was more of a case of correlation, albeit mighty suspicious. The reporting said that Trump requested, and was provided, info about HUMINT assets in Russia. Sometime later, HUMINT networks in Russia were rolled up and at least a few of those snared were executed.

We've lost our collective will or ability to recognize the distinction between dissidence and malevolence and be tolerant of only the former and very very intolerant of the latter. Damned Paradox of Tolerance!
Martin Vermeer FCD@meltedcheese @inthehands @Strandjunker As a side note, losing a source close to the RU government like this also makes US intelligence on Russia poorer, making policy and decision making poorer and increasing the risk of miscalculations. That also has a price, which may be human lives. John Sipher alludes to that in the article.
