Linux people, *please* understand this. Sometimes people need to run Windows.

They’re allowed to complain about Windows ads, or tracking, or any other enshittification problems, without you saying “use Linux” every time.

@rubenerd why?

No, I mean, really. Why does someone "have" to use it.

@mirabilos @rubenerd gaming is still a big reason
@lexd0g @mirabilos @rubenerd so true
gaming on linux is more viable than ever nowadays, but that doesn't change the fact that many anti-cheats
have to specifically exclude linux because it'd just be impossible to actually secure the environment when the environment could be as simple as vanilla ubuntu and as complex and different as some person's hyper-customized NixOS install that they've been tweaking for 14 years
Roblox, Fortnite, Valorant and soon League of Legends, there's like a bunch of super popular games out there that straight up refuse to run on Linux because of that.
it's sucky but that's just how it ends up being sometimes, and apart from convincing the devs
(which, unfortunately, usually can't happen) the only solution for someone who wants to play is either buy a Mac for like $1,200, or just dual-boot Windows for free...
@frost @mirabilos @rubenerd vr is also for the most part Windows only, unless you deal with very unstable software (monado) or you get an overpriced outdated vr headset (valve index) and deal with only slightly unstable software (steamvr)
@lexd0g @frost Thanks for those replies, that’s more context I wasn’t aware of. ♡
