Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh is changing sides and joining the #Poilievre Conservatives to undermine a key component of Canada’s environmental policy.
"Attacking the carbon tax because Poilievre is winning with lies is not credible."
Is this a #FlipFlop or a #Backpedal?

UPDATE:
After ⁦Jagmeet Singh raised doubts about the NDP’s stance on carbon pricing, the party has announced nothing has changed and they actually still support the policy. 🤷‍♂️

After Jagmeet Singh raises doubts, NDP says it still supports a consumer carbon levy

Under fire, the federal New Democrats said Friday they continue to support a consumer carbon levy, a day after Leader Jagmeet Singh suggested his party is looking at alternatives.

Toronto Star

@gemelliz Environmental disaster is inevitable.

We can never agree on anything. Initiatives are dismantled as soon as they are implemented.

People love cars, and driving around. Flying on planes for vacations. Cheap shipping across the ocean.

@gemelliz not very impressed with them on that

@gemelliz This article is misrepresentative, his speech was excellent.

First an attack on Poilievre's climate denial, not the carbon tax, about how the working class bears the cost of the crisis while corporations get richer.

Then an attack on Trudeau's handling of the carbon tax, but not the tax itself, where he points to the myriad of federal exemptions played for political gain and continued O&G subsidies.

I think it's perfectly consistent with the party's stance.
