I like how, halfway through the series, they decided to add the vocals to the opening and closing songs.

Their relationship escalated quickly. But that makes sense. Tew did have his life actively threatened earlier that day.

Wahl once again is extremely comfortable antagonizing a member of the mafia. Also blaming Tew for all the awkwardness developing in his relationship with Guy. As if his own keeping Guy on a hook has nothing to do with it.

Wahl is only now starting to realize that maybe his reaction to Guy & Tew might be disproportionate. And that his relationship to Guy was something he took for granted.

Guy admits he’s been keeping himself in the hook for Wahl, clinging to Wahl saying he would always be guess first choice, and that it hurt, bc it wasn’t true.

No blame, no demands, just that he needs to move on.

Sulking mafioso is cute.

Especially as he is definitely sulking in mafioso mode. All emotionally coiled and sharp and faintly pouting past a disaffected mask.

And soft Tew is back, now that he’s been mollified.

Restarting EP 5 of My Dear Gangster Oppa, to push forward with it. I want to get through the scene where Tew quits w/o skipping, but it's a little nerve wracking.

Which makes it occur to me, maybe I should have continued Ai Long Nhai, since that's the one on my current #Watchlist

Oh well. lol

(Upthread is everything from my original watch.)

Tew really looks like he would be considering "one last job" if it wasn't for the fact that Guy very obviously still cares about Wahl.

And Wahl actually looks guilty at the realization that he's been a neglectful friend towards Guy.

Also sulking mafioso remains cute

The keepsake for Tew to carry on his way to quit his life as mafia right hand man, looks like an oversized handkerchief?Which makes Guy's comment about it not being watched a little

The fact that the boss clocked that Tew is in love that fast is... both alarming and also probably the only reason Tew is still alive.

Oh, we're playing Russian roulette with extra rounds?

Correction, at this point, this is reverse. Only one empty chamber. 😨

Tew went through with it.

This show could have ended very differently. Like, right then.  (Honestly, is 1000% what would have happened back in the day of all tragedy all the time for media with queer themes.)

The fact that Tew wraps the cloth from Guy around his wrist once he realized he was getting jumped out of the gang is so very

Interesting visual note: everyone else in their suits, while Tul watches, flinching at him getting hit, wearing a brightly patterned "Hawaiian"* shirt.

You know, a bunch of people who would have been scared of him before, making with the hitting, I'm just saying.

*That's a deliberate marketing misnomer.

I did it! I got through that scene! And I'm glad I did, or I would have been missing some nuanced context.

Aww, Tul was crying!

Ah, the stress of PUGs.

Is Guy gonna afk through the run?

Pffft, Guy thinking it was a good idea to call the police of Tew getting jumped out. And also being surprised it could be this bad.

Did he not realize Tew could have died? This was relatively mild?

I mean, I guess not. His concept is innocence to that world.

Not to say Guy's reaction isn't super sweet.

Also I think this is one of Ping's better moments as an actor.

Ah the cute cartoon monkey bandage.

One thing that amuses me about Meen's characters. While neither Ai Long Nhai, nor this show, are particularly spicy, both Tew and Aiyaret are pretty much always dtf.

Tew, severely injured, to Guy's dismay: "This stuff has been on my mind all the time."

It's fine, he's just bruised everywhere.

Why do I feel like the "where would you like the wounds to be" bit that Tew does, is a repurposed threat, into him being cute for Guy?

Bc that's an odd phrase. And an ominous one, when the person isn't legitimately smiling cutely, and clearly meaning smooches.

And wrecked restaurant. Tew looks more annoyed about this than being jumped. I think bc it is directly impacting Guy and Boss, and he feels responsible for them in context.

It's the return of Tul! Poor guy doesn't have a boyfriend to tend to his jump wounds, sadly.

He clearly did not expect a hug. And this is where Guy's influence on Tew becomes apparent.

Muffin in the maid outfit.  Like, I know she's a bit much but she's also adorable and I'm surprised she misses as much as she does.

... Aside from her crushing on people already focused elsewhere.

That might have a lot to do with it.

P.Insomnia/Phai once again the one who fully clocks Tew and Guy without confusion.

I headcanon her as part of the community, so to speak. (I might also ship her with Muffin.)

Why is Tew cleaning and painting while injured, and Guy on the sidelines? Not that he isn't helping, but, Tew has been clutching his ribs for what narratively seems like hours.

Poor Boss flirting hard with Tul. Even poorer later, but that's a spoiler for next episode.

What is Phai's job? Like, she just hands Guy a business card for him to call "if anything else happens."

Also, Guy is sweeping and organizing, it looks like. So that works. FMaybe he's got a better head for that than the rest of the tasks.

Tom just blowing up Tew and Guy's spot.

And Tul can't handle cute boyfriend mode Tew.

Oh! Wait. So did Tew actually ask for the Soy Sauce? bc I had assumed not, but now I think he might have.

Okay but Kenji is lucky that he didn't mark Boss with those hits, and made Tul even more suspicious of Boss taking a long time to get back.

Did Tew get knocked out like this before? He seemed to sort that out fast.

I forgot that they don't do post-credit scenes at the end of this show. (Or trailers.)

I'm so used to it elsewhere.

Anyway, that's EP5! Nice.
