@womump @signalapp This. And as well as you don’t want to give everyone your (single) phone number, you also might not want to use the same (full) name in all groups.

As long as you do not support multiple identities as a feature, leaving the user profile vague is the way to go.

Obviously they will not. WhatsApp is far away from Signal in terms of security and privacy and thus Signal would have to lower its standards.

Thankfully they declared to not integrate or connect to WhatsApp, Telegram API and so on

@cabinet20 @signalapp Whatsapp has very privacy invasive requirements to connect to their servers. We don't want Meta's rules here in Signal network.

@jdoe @signalapp Fully understand. Sad that I can’t just use the Signal app, instead, as I can’t give up WhatsApp without giving up on talking to family or friends with Android phones.

FWIW, I'm happily using signal on an Android phone, linked to the app on my windows laptop, and communicating regularly with friends wholly w/in the Apple ecosystem.

The only challenge is convincing WhatsApp users to give up Meta; most of my friends were happy to do so.

@signalapp I would love to have location sharing feature. So you can automatically send for a fixed time every few seconds your current location. That should then show on a map.
