So I just went for my physical, and it's wrapping up, I'm waiting for my dr. to come back. Suddenly, he comes in all excited, grabs my arm says, come here! We go out to the patio outside his office, he hands me the Special Eclipse 3-D Glasses Thingies, and says, put these on, it'll be black til you look up!

And it was, til I looked up and saw my very first eclipse.

Yes, I have a very cool dr. who I've gone to for decades.

@GottaLaff how cool that your dr did that 😃
@Danetteb He's so amazing. We talk politics all the time, we've become friends over the years. He gave us his cell number for any time we may need him in an emergency. He was my dad's (a dr.) dr.
@GottaLaff lucky you! Having such a gem of a family dr/friend is like winning the lottery
@Danetteb That's so true. I am grateful every day

@GottaLaff
Cool. Reminds me of a joke from stand up comedian Mike Gandolfini (not the son of James)

"I bet my brother $100 dollars that he couldn't look at the sun for a hour.

He won, but I only gave him a dollar."

Dark, but it made me laugh, because it was a JOKE! He didn't REALLY do that!
(I feel I have to say that these days.)

@spocko LOL.

And yeah, you have to caveat EVERYthing now.

@GottaLaff
I made sure to credit the joke writer too. He had a lot of dark jokes that I liked.

#Eclipse joke.

@spocko Only another writer would be ethical enough to credit the author. xo

@GottaLaff

it was pretty damn cool... we had 98% covered in St. Louis.. of course full just south of here... but I didn't have to leave home...

@tdwllms1 Cool! We only had about 25-30%

@GottaLaff

Neato!

I was in the path of totality without glasses and on the wrong side of the building here downtown (was late in learning of this).

It was the weirdest feeling. The colour of the buildings became dull and flat as the eclipse began. Then before the total, a weird light as if the sun broke through. Total eclipse is so different from partial eclipses.

My solar lights on the balcony came on at the darkest and people began cheering. The pigeons flew home. The birds stopped singing. I could see marks of a sunset in the distance.

For me, it was the sensation of the darkness coming down. I could feel the changes. At first I was totally creeped out. Then I cried.

AWE.

@JaneDoeTheFirst Wow! What a great description of you experience.

@GottaLaff

Yeah, thanks. This was NOTHING like I expected! I've been around partials but not this! Still giving me goosebumps.

@GottaLaff That's WAY cool!
@Eetschrijver HE'S way cool. I'm so lucky.
@GottaLaff You are indeed! Doctors that you have a good relationship with are worth ten times their weight in gold!
@Eetschrijver I couldn't agree more. Esp. with people like me who are scared silly of doctor visits (based on years of scary outcomes)
@GottaLaff Cloudy and pouring rain here in Vancouver. We'd only get about a 10% eclipse here anyway so I didn't miss much.
@dhj1961 Ah, thanks. I wondered how it was up there. I haven't checked my weather app today.

@GottaLaff

Love this story! It should be in a movie!
