Tried photographing the #platys for my #fishlist. But the iPhone camera on just isn't good enough for, well, anything (the pre-X cameras were so much better for this sort of photography).

...Sigh, I need to get the system camera operational again.

@Beiz They are not easy to photograph even with higher end equipment. I snapped this using my SLR and macro lens. Getting a good, high resolution shot will require more fussing with lighting, taking and culling a lot of photos. I have cosidered designing a dedicated photography set for fish specimens, but that would take a while.

@Edrmorris yeah.. fish photography is an entire art in an off itself. it's definitely understandable why so many basically just focus on Bettas.

I built a photo tank and got a bunch of lights to try and capture good colors. But even then, it varies greatly between both individuals and species what to do. Not to mention the fish get stressed, loses color, and moves around like a rocket. Unless it's a betta.

I also don't have a proper camera...

@Beiz I’m a field biologist, so when making a species observations I use a phone app called Camera+. It gives you more control over focus (especially β€œmacro”) and exposure than the standard phone app.
