Trump really wants to get someone killed & is way overdue for some jail time.

Via Kyle Griffin:

Days after a man was arrested for threatening Judge Arthur Engoron and New York AG Letitia James — saying he would kill them if they didn't stop the civil fraud case against Trump — Donald #Trump attacks both Engoron and James online.

@GottaLaff I remember a time when Presidential candidates didn't threaten the lives of multiple judges while on the campaign trail.
@Lazarou American exceptionalism
@Lazarou @GottaLaff I want to see Trump lose EVERY SINGLE STATE.

I doubt it'll happen, but I'd love to see it.
@zakalwe @GottaLaff @Lazarou
I’d settle for him just losing the overall election
@GottaLaff I think it's way past time for our country to show, unequivocally, that no man is above the law.

@tersenurse @GottaLaff

Bullies keep winning and bullying because no one will stand up to them. And that's with the power of the law at hand.

@GottaLaff US is no more than a 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌republic.
@GottaLaff I wouldn't complain if he dropped ded on his birthday in front of his family or supporters.
💀#couldn'thappentoanicerguy
@GottaLaff Why is Mandarin Orange allowed to get away with this? Secret Service? FBI? Are they all shilling for him?
@Invincible_Fall Because they’re not included in the gag orders. They’re fair game. Legally I mean.
@GottaLaff that he is still a presidential candidate just shows the world that the US is not a serious country.
@andymoose No, it shows that it applies to Republicans, not Democrats.
@GottaLaff from outside of the US all that matters is that we see the US as politically chaotic and when it falls to fascism (which is very likely) it will drag everyone else down with it.
@andymoose Then outside the Us should educate themselves. We Dems and some Republicans are doing everything we can to stop that
@GottaLaff yeah ok.
@GottaLaff you’ve had 3 years to deal with Trump. He would be in prison if he was in any other country.
@andymoose Yeah, we have a legal system that is glacial.
@GottaLaff I mean what does the man have to do to get thrown in prison. He threatens judges, he ignores gag orders, he doesn’t pay anyone anything, he is a stochastic terrorist, he lies, he cheats, the list goes on. Being thorough and fair is one thing, but the way he’s mollycoddled all the time is just crazy! The system is corrupt. It’s so obvious, it’s not even a secret - it’s out there for everyone to see. And he sleeps in his own bed at night while talking heads drone on about Biden

@andymoose @GottaLaff Neither he, nor any member of his immediate family, will spend even a day in prison.

The *most* that will happen is that he'll be sentenced to house arrest. At mar a lago.

@kithrup @andymoose You don’t know that.

Andy, the gag orders don’t cover the judges or lawyers, by choice. They may eventually. He doesn’t go to jail unless convicted, after a trial. We don’t just imprison without trials. I happen to prefer it that way. And yes, it sucks sometimes and can be unfair. He’s also lost a few cases, remember? + 88 indictments.

@GottaLaff @kithrup he is ordered to stop yapping and making threats against people, which he then ignores. He is given a warning which he then ignores. No repercussions. Does this also apply to you or anyone else or just Trump and the hideously wealthy or Republican? At no point did I say jail him without trial, but at what point do you draw the line? Is it ok if he were to, I don’t know, shoot someone on 5th avenue? Would he then be free for a couple more years awaiting trial?
@andymoose @kithrup “he is ordered to stop yapping & making threats against people, which he then ignores.” The orders don’t apply to judges or lawyers, which is what my original post was about. He got fined by 1 judge for ignoring orders. But of course, the rest is spot on. But bc he’s a pres candidate, judges are super cautious about 1A for fear of being reversed, resulting in end of trial. That would let him go free, zero legal consequences. This is unprecedented stuff.
@GottaLaff @kithrup we’re all watching with a sense of dread. Fingers crossed some sort of justice is served. As unlikely as that is.
@andymoose I hear ya. I feel the way you do, btw, but with some caveats that I mentioned upthread. I’m more patient with the legal system than those watching from afar, because I guess I think the alternative might be worse. I’m VERY impatient & alarmed, but trying to cope with how it all works, legally. Judge Cannon, for ex, deserves every bit of scorn from everyone. @kithrup

@GottaLaff @andymoose Except it’s not just Canon. He doesn’t have to pay $450M because… well, just because. He doesn’t even have to pay the $150M or so, it seems. (It’s not really a deadline if you’re given another 10 days to say why, and then another 10 days after that to do something, and another 10 days after that…)

It’s not just him, of course. There’s also Paxton in TX.

The clearly-apparent dual legal system here is… wrong, and not changing.

@kithrup Totally, but I don’t think the other judges are in the tank for him, like Cannon is. They’re just super cautious so as not to get reversed. @andymoose

@kithrup Sorry, forgot to address the rest.

As I said upthread, it’s GOP, not Dems. GOP appted judges/Federalist puppets are a huge prob. That was my orig pt.

So yes, our legal system (as I also said previously) is flawed & often unfair, but imprisoning people w/out due process would be worse (“re: Andy: He would be in prison if he was in any other country”). Andy started with: “US is not a serious country.” I said, it’s not the US, it’s (primarily, hugely) the GOP Fascist Party.

@andymoose

@GottaLaff @kithrup he would have been charged and gone to trial and probably be in prison in any other country. Especially France. They tried and convicted Sarkozy. How is Trump any different. Trump has done way worse.
@andymoose Again, my point isn't that he *shouldn't* have suffered consequences by now, so please, enough debating. I don't come here for debates. I'm saying that you made a blanket statement about the US that simply doesn't apply to "the US," it applies, almost exclusively, to GOP extremists. @kithrup
@GottaLaff @kithrup ok ok. I was just clarifying that I wasn’t proposing that he NOT get a fair trial. FIN
@GottaLaff if you keep threatening to ground your child for unruly behaviour, but never follow through, they will continue the unruly behaviour. It’s no different here.
@LexiGirl Can’t follow through if it’s legal. The gag orders exclude the judges and lawyers

@GottaLaff

High time to take him in…

@xs4me2 They’re not included in the gag orders

@GottaLaff That probably has a lot to do with the AG's filing yesterday that his appeal bond may not meet the rather stringent NY state requirements for liquidity of the bond provider. Can the appeals court find him in contempt for the attacks?

Even if it's "covered by the first amendment", it's an incredibly stupid thing to do given that filing. He missed his deadline and his lawyers should be responding in court. He's kneecapping his defense team.

@GottaLaff I can't imagine any lawyer wanting to represent him - no matter how much his WinRed campaigns bring in to pay the lawyers, the best case is they figure out what's up and walk out.
@AlgoCompSynth The judges and lawyers are not affected by the gag orders
@GottaLaff Trump's lawyers are affected by Trump's conduct. Regardless of whether the letter of the gag order and the first amendment allow Trump's conduct, the conduct prevents the attorneys from doing their job.
@GottaLaff Ask Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Michael Cohen, John Eastman, Ty Cobb, ... if they wish they'd gotten away from Trump before they did. Giuliani still clings to his loyalty to Trump ... I got a text from his fundraising campaign for legal fees a couple of weeks ago.
@AlgoCompSynth Oh yes, agree with that.
@GottaLaugh. Why the man(?) is not in jail in a (I seem to be retarded tonight)-legal predicament-is beyond me
