World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza.

Despite coordinating movements with the IDF, the convoy was hit

This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable

The seven killed are from Australia, Poland, UK, US, Canada, and Palestine.

World Central Kitchen | 7 WCK team members killed in Gaza

World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza.

World Central Kitchen

@aral

Sorry again for me interfering here.

Maybe we should tell it an accident rather than an attack. For an attack is a willful action to harm and destroy something.

To my knowledge this wasn't the case here do we are better up to wait on the report of IDF which is looking in the case.

@finche There is no despite, and the IDF’s investigation will be entirely pro-forma. This incident occurred BECAUSE WCK coordinated its movements with the aggressor (IDF).

@reinhilde Oh,
Reinhilde, you are hitting hard, aren't you?

I am not convinced of that, maybe we will wait until there were all investigations be made.

To my knowledge IL confessed the attack stating it wasn't for purpose.
I tend to believe them up to now. Until we see eventually they are lying at us.

At the moment that doesn't make sense, because many will feast on that mistake.

@finche I’m coming out early with this for one simple reason, summed up in the seven letter Latin phrase, “cui bono”. Whose agenda benefits from these attacks? People who are eliminationist towards Palestinians across historic Palestine. IDF and Israel under Likud and Otzma Yehudit have shown again and again that they cannot tolerate the very existence of one Palestinian person any longer than it takes to get them to shut up and fuck off. They’re willing to enact man-made famine in Gaza to this end.

Whether deliberate or accidental, these atrocities are unequivocally condoned by the Israeli state machinery as it stands.

@reinhilde So you do think that IL will profit from those attack?

I doubt that. IL dearly need support from the US and from the European allies. They would stop at length if Israel would breach Geneva Convention and so on. I really think they had been warned last week Us letting pass the UN resolution.

I really can't see no good in a murder of humanitarian workers.

I think all decent people would want that that has never happened.

@finche Profit? No. I don’t think they’ll profit. But what they want, they get partly by doing this.

The US and European allies have not shown that they will stop if Israel breaches international law (it has, repeatedly)

@reinhilde Do you think this incident will be a stepstone in reaching their goals?

Let's see: firstly they want to destroy hamas so there is no future massacre like 10/7. Then they want all hostages back - dead or alive.

How would the murder fit in?

I am sure that the US and Europe will press IL to better care for the civilians and will try to hinder IL from raiding Rafah. This can't be desirable for the present government, can it?

@finche Your statement of their goals is not correct.

Their goal is the destruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the resettlement of Gaza with Israeli settlers, a fair few of whom are people making aliyah from the US (I’m not here to judge Israel’s nationality law at this time, only their actions in Gaza).

They have stated this several times, calling them human animals, etc.

Hamas doesn’t even factor.

@reinhilde Sorry, Reinhilde, but this seems to me very emotional and beyond reality.

Yes, there are rightists claiming gaza for (re-)settlement. And there are extremists making havoc in the West Bank.

They are morons, they are loud, but they are little in numbers.

I can't see that there will be a resettlement and an ethnic cleaning of the strip.

To my knowledge they want to block Gaza from IL.

Let's who was right. In autumn we know.

G'night.

So the World Central Kitchen convoy a) cleared its route with the IDF beforehand, b) traveled on an approved route, and c) departed at an approved time, so d) the IDF knew exactly who it was killing when it struck the convoy three (3) times. It was so obviously deliberate, and so deliberately cruel—not just to murder these people, but to terrorize other aid workers into abandoning the Palestinians to be starved to death. To prove the IDF’s impunity and reach, and to compel the IDF’s defenders into apologizing for yet another unforgivable atrocity.
