hey so genuine question cause i've never been able to tell and it's getting a new anime

spice and wolf

how much is it like "yeah capitalism wooo" and how grossly pedo is it

i could never figure out. and i could be completely wrong maybe i'm thinking of other shows but how bad is it in those regards

@junebug I remember it being none of the latter, and less of the former than I was anticipating. More "isn't trade and logistics cool" than the specific economic relations of capitalism

@junebug also truly cannot remember for the life of me if the main character and the 600 year old 15 year old have any kind of relation. I feel like I remember it being fairly like, paternal and not creepy, but my mind may have filed it under "anime bullshit" and scrubbed it from my memory.

@junebug my recollection of what the anime was like isn't exactly strong, it's been a really long time. But what I remember from it, there is basically nothing about Holo's apparent age that jumped out to me in her character or appearance. If I never heard that at some point someone said shes supposed to look 15 I would never have even guessed it.

Its been a WHILE since I’ve seen it and I’d say its less capitalism woo and more like
You WILL learn the intricacies of trade and commerce for this fictional vaguely European setting by the end of it. Which is like still capitalism-y but a different vibe.

And I don’t remember anything pedo-y? I never really saw Holo as a child but I guess her human form is supposed to be teenage-looking. Like I said it’s been a While… it is a romance overall between her and Kraft the merchant dude they are endgame so make of that what you will
