GlyphIt seems silly but mastodon’s retreat from the language of “toots” and now even “boosts” ( they’re “reblogs” in the official app now ) is exactly the same dumb-as-rocks discarding of a recognizable brand that Xitter is doing
David B. Himself@glyph On the other hand, it's also because the Fediverse is not just Mastodon, and it's time people understand that. Dropping "toot" is a step in that direction, I believe.
See, right now, I'm not on Mastodon, so what should I call this reply as it's definitely not a "toot"? Should every platform have its own lingo, and everything becomes even more confusing for newcomers as if it's confusing enough already?
