countries be like
1. begrudgingly elect left wingers
2. get frustrated that the world aint perfect, blame the lefties
3. rage-elect right wingers
4. quick thrill followed by crushing economic downturn and/or war
5. begrudgingly elect left wingers
@falcennial Not so much begrudging votes these days. People seem to go full Fash.
@falcennial Currently in Stage 4 in Aotearoa New Zealand. Eagerly anticipating the next stage
@falcennial seems that is the standard MO.

@falcennial Or

1. Joyously elect left-wingers
2. Have a US Republican CIA incite a coup to install a right winger

@falcennial What has Democrats (US) and Labour (UK and Aus) done for the world and in particular the Global South...more of the same. In Australia the Labour government pushes exports of coal to an all time high. All of these left leaning governments enabled genocide, GENOCIDE and defunded a UN body delivering food aid on spurious grounds. Juice Media aptly describes them as #@!#* lite. That is why.
@falcennial i would say they elect centrist or slightly left of centre, not really left wingers, who don't really do anything meaningful leading to even worse right wingers getting voted in each cycle. It's worse in US as democrats are a centre right party already.
@falcennial then the short-term memory kicks in so the rich-wingers get elected again.

@falcennial

One of the problems is that we don't have any **actual** left wingers to elect, grudgingly or not. We have straw "radical lefties" - as described by the red-hats.

@falcennial 1. Be Dutch
2. The left wing hasn't been in power since before I was born 27 years ago.
3. The country is in disrepair
4. They vote more right wing
@GLaDTheresCake @falcennial
I'm old enough to remember when most Americans called the type of climate action that Joe Biden has taken to be a leftist attempt to control their lives.
@falcennial the cycle of life. Frankly I wish politics would go extinct. Government is fine, but ideology is lipstick on a pig.

@falcennial It's not that the world ain't perfect, it's that the left-wingers aren't actually left wingers.

They're more like place-holders that sit there tinkering with the inconsequential, until enough pressure comes off the kleptocrats for them to be re-elected.

Rinse Repeat.

@falcennial Hah, thank you for editing this post. I've been trying to remember where I've seen this but couldn't find it.
