The price of asthma medication has soared in the U.S. over the past decade and a half.

The pharmaceutical company Teva sells QVAR RediHaler, a corticosteroid inhaler, for $286 in the U.S.

In Germany, Teva sells that same inhaler for $9.

Asthma meds have become shockingly unaffordable − but relief may be on the way

An inhaler that costs nearly $300 in the US goes for just $9 in Germany. What gives?

I propose a law, that for every case of rapacious pricing, we are entitled to choose one Pharma CEO, and then cook and eat them.

Let us take sustenance from those who would price us into death.😐

@TheConversationUS sucks too because Teva makes cheap generic drugs on stolen land.
@TheConversationUS it cost me $91(125cdn) in BC Canada.
@TheConversationUS free on the NHS, if you have to pay for prescriptions £9.32, but you can order more than one on the same prescription
@TheConversationUS Teva Pharmaceuticals is an Israeli pharmaceutical company that is one of the largest manufacturers of generic drugs in the world. In 2023, Teva paid the largest fines to date for an antitrust cartel in relation to a DOJ criminal investigation into company price-fixing.

@TheConversationUS
The DOJ could look at real market power abuse like this that bankrupts average Americans or makes simple medications unaffordable. Instead, they’re suing Apple, whose generally not-poor customers choose to buy iPhones over competing alternatives, over f’in green chat bubbles.

Or they could look at an actual monopoly and monopsony who has been abusing that power for ages in Ticketmaster.

Merrick Garland needs to be replaced.

@TheConversationUS I needed to use that for a month each year ... Thankfully in Germany.
