So.... Shipping's no different than US rail.

I know Biden said the Federal government is going to pay to replace the bridge, but it really seems like the shipping company ought to be on the hook for both the bridge, the lost revenues for the port of Baltimore and the salaries of the soon to be idled dock workers (etc).

Yep. I think Biden's answer was that in order to get started rebuilding now, the government will put up the money. Investigations and figuring out liability will take months or years. If Maersk ends up being responsible, we need to fine the daylights out of them!
