I thought Three Body Problem (the book) was quite good. Not fabulous but good. The TV series is like a slightly better episode of Dr Who but, upon consideration, sillier than Independence Day but with far more death porn.
@podperson "not a complete waste of time" is my review of the TV show. They showcased the _big ideas_ reasonably well. The proton thing should have been skipped. They invested heavily on cinematic spectacle and brushed past other fairly shocking events. They tried so desperately, for so many episodes, to build up sympathy and relevance for one fairly uninteresting character. smh.
@crgentle it also had the whole “imagine if Britain were still important” thing going that is so characteristic of Dr Who :)
