Job openings at Framework

@frameworkcomputer maybe add #fedihired . It'd help those who are looking spot the post.
@frameworkcomputer Remote-first != Remote-first (US/Canada)
@icy @frameworkcomputer
Ah, indeed. So kinda good, but rather limited, unfortunately. For now :)

@frameworkcomputer

do they know not getting promoted is a plus for a lot of people tho

@darwinwoodka @frameworkcomputer it's not that we don't want to get promoted, it's that the only possible promotion is through the managerial ladder. If they had a longer ladder than junior/mid/senior X, for any X (developer, accountant, plumber), that runs dry after 5 years, then maybe we would be more content and have a(nother) reason to stay.
@mdione @frameworkcomputer I've worked at places that had dual ladder technical programs, they're great.
@frameworkcomputer the alt text on this image isn't very good, the alt text doesn't actually say what dell's stance on remote work is
@eyrie @frameworkcomputer It was a decision I made on purpose. Appreciate the feedback. I fixed it, but indicated the title quote.
@frameworkcomputer hopefully someday you'll have a position for a network admin or cyber security engineer, I'd love to apply!
@frameworkcomputer who asked + get me a fresh bowl of mac and cheese herbert you aren't supposed to be on fedi at this hour
@frameworkcomputer sysadmin and hobby FOSS dev here based in europe. Lmk if you need help.
@frameworkcomputer "Okay. I was going to stay home anyway. No need to sweeten the deal."

@frameworkcomputer some managers need training on remote administration, but this is mostly a cultural issue that cannot be fixed without boardmember buyin. Good luck making them change / taking away their special building where they get to feel important all day.

That official policy is unhinged. Maybe shareholders should take action against these crazy companies? Metrics consistently show wfh is efficient; these people are serving their egos, not shareholders/ customers

@frameworkcomputer Boycott the shit out of those greedy deranged idiot bastards at dell!
@frameworkcomputer this kind of behavior will be ruled as illegal in short time. Especially since a lot of remote / distributed workers are disabled.

@frameworkcomputer

Why would you want to get promoted at a big corporation? They just put on salary and ask you to do unpaid overtime.

@frameworkcomputer if you're shopping for a 3rd party security shop that can do architecture as well as security assessments, please do let me know!
@frameworkcomputer Good thing there's no precedent in the tech industry for disgruntled workers leaving the company and then putting the old company out of business.

@frameworkcomputer I would like to apply to the position of "heckling people to get a TrackPoint keyboard done already". I don't need a salary. :P

I am aware of https://community.frame.work/t/thinkpad-keyboard-mod-super-early-stages/38484/58 yes (and I am a Patreon patron too for Scott for this). But still.

Thinkpad keyboard mod (super early stages)!

I’d love to have a slightly wider variety of ThinkPad keyboards to test fit. I’m a little disappointed that I haven’t been able to find a good reference that lets me know exactly how big each ThinkPad Keyboard is in width, height, and thickness so that we could more easily screen candidates. My one constraint has been that I want the trackpoint buttons to be integral to the keyboard, since I don’t want to have to fabricate new buttons to replace them, but other than that I am mostly throwing d...

@frameworkcomputer doesn't look like i can do remote engineering work. Good for marketers and copywriters though. :(
@frameworkcomputer they weren’t going to be promoted anyway 😖
@frameworkcomputer would you hire a minor without working papers?

@frameworkcomputer

Could well explain why Dell computers are so naff.

@frameworkcomputer Like skills have something to do with promotions. 🥲
@frameworkcomputer Also assumes people want to get promoted, sometimes the promotion path is unappealing. (There seems to be an assumption people want to end up in management in some companies)
@frameworkcomputer i'd work for you if it didn't require me to relocate to Taipei but such is the fate of the electronics engineer, no remote ever
@frameworkcomputer I'll have to keep an eye on the page. Copy Writer is something in my wheelhouse but I'd need more than part time I think. Good luck filling the positions!
@frameworkcomputer only 3 positions at this time, but I’ll keep y’all in mind any time I’m on the hunt for jobs again
@frameworkcomputer Gotta say, after using my framework 13" laptop for a few months, y'all are my favorite computer company. If I were in the market for any of the jobs you have open, I'd be super interested.
@frameworkcomputer Do you happen to work with (EU-based) freelancers, too?

@frameworkcomputer

In other news, they don't get more likely exposure to Covid. It's a terrible indictment of Dell's lack of concern for their workforce though.

Good on you, @frameworkcomputer . Well done. Can I work remotely from Australia? 🐨
