Woke yesterday in Salt Lake City and travelled all the way up to Denver, via some pretty incredible scenery. Sadly the weather was being a jerk for the Utah sections which made it difficult to see some of the further land formations & buttes.. but I’m pretty sure I got a look at Factory Butte (pronounced “butt”, apparently.. I’d been saying ”boot”)

The climb to Denver was stunning.. saw 3 bald eagles (incl one sticking its head of the nest) and a herd of Buffalo.

I awoke this morning in Lincoln, Nebraska to rain and.. well so far NE and Idaho have been uninteresting, scenery wise.

After arriving in Chicago I set off to have a wonder around the city before catching the Lake Shore Limited to nyc.. it was during that I realised I’d left my glasses on the train… that set off a pretty surreal, confusing and comical sequence of events which ended up with a random porter I talked to driving me on a cart through Union station horn honking at people to get out of the way, across the tracks, down the platform to the train car where he had remembered seeing them. And there they were. Very appreciative of that porter.
