It was a looong journey to get to @revisionparty from NZ but totally worth it. One of the best experiences I’ve had.

Such a positive, supportive and inspiring atmosphere, with people creating amazing shit for the sake of it and for the community. And it was so lovely to meet folk from the scene in person for the first time.

Many thanks to the organisers and everyone involved in putting together such a wonderful event!

Leaving sunny Saarbrücken tomorrow for London for a few days by train, before flying back to NZ (with a 3 day stop in Taiwan) 😮‍💨

Arrived in saarbrucken. Well, arrived a few hours ago and fell asleep as soon as I’d checked in to the hotel. It’s as if I’ve travelled from the other side of the world or something.

Let’s see how well I navigate the German train system. Anything could happen.

After a blur of 1.5 days in NYC, it’s time to catch the plane to Frankfurt.

I made the schoolboy error of not paying attention to where my hotel was. Being right next to Times Square is pure crazy town - that whole area is. The hotel itself was excellent.

Managed to get to MoMA today.. the queue for people _with_ tickets was around the block. However members skip the queue, so I became a member. (it’s cheap enough I don’t understand why people stand in a queue like that, given you get free entry and cheap guest passes…)

I fought my way through the crowd of insta selfie takers to view The Starry Night for a good amount of time, and all was right in the world. I did not take a photo of the painting.

The Other Half taproom, Beer Culture and Judge Roy Bean were nice beer geeky refuges from the madness.

Just stopped at Schenectady on the Lake Shore Limited train heading towards NYC. It’s all very pretty with the snow and the river.

Woke yesterday in Salt Lake City and travelled all the way up to Denver, via some pretty incredible scenery. Sadly the weather was being a jerk for the Utah sections which made it difficult to see some of the further land formations & buttes.. but I’m pretty sure I got a look at Factory Butte (pronounced “butt”, apparently.. I’d been saying ”boot”)

The climb to Denver was stunning.. saw 3 bald eagles (incl one sticking its head of the nest) and a herd of Buffalo.

I awoke this morning in Lincoln, Nebraska to rain and.. well so far NE and Idaho have been uninteresting, scenery wise.

The plains of Nevada as the sun sets. Quite a localised dust storm going on. And so many tumbleweeds.

Made it through Donner Pass without feeling the need to eat my fellow passengers.

On the California Zephyr bound for Chicago!

Enjoyable few hours at sf moma, tho slightly disappointing that they didn’t have more of their Lichtenstein collection on display.

Wandered around the GDC expo floor for a bit yesterday… I’m felling pretty jaded about the whole industry at the moment and what I saw didn’t change that. I guess it was fine.

The general mood of dev friends I saw was one of quietly freaking out about the industry immolating itself.

Also, I’d be generous in saying I saw a dozen people wearing masks amongst the thousands on the show floor. Zero people on booths. Insanity.
