A couple of weeks ago, the European Broadcasting Union (#EBU) asked us to write a guest article about our experience with #Mastodon / the #Fediverse, explain the basics, and point out the advantages.

Challenge accepted. 👍

So here's the finished post by @lxplm, hot off the #blog press. ⌨️

Public Broadcasters of Europe, Let's All Join Mastodon!

In this guest post, Alexander Plaum, Innovation Manager at Deutsche Welle (DW), writes about his team's exceptionally positive experience with microblogging in the Fediverse. He also explains why all public broadcasting professionals should try out Mastodon.

@dw_innovation @lxplm I think a reluctance exists because people have forgotten how to actually be social in a non curated sense of self. To actually make friends with strangers online, or to actually take the time to be part of a community by engaging with people on a level that may be less parasocial.

@rotfarm thank you 💯

I wanted to hear that from someone again. This is the reason for me and all what fediverse is about that I'm advocating to people for.

@kahakai I think there's a level in de-escalating yhe ways that social media takes space in our lives, both as a viewer, and a user. I don't think it's an easy flip at all. It's not flashy, the people aren't either. We are just being little weirdos by ourselves and with eachother lol.
