Some days I just want to go back to Mavericks

@Eggfreckles

Some of us never left.

@patrickrhone as hard as we might try we can’t all live like Patrick.
@Eggfreckles In fairness, the Mavericks machine is not my main daily driver. That one is on Monterey.
@patrickrhone I still have an El Capitan virtual machine running on a Dell Optiolex I use from time to time.
@Eggfreckles yes, but with the Big Sur era flat Dock
@Eggfreckles Some days I miss OS9! But is passes when I want to use the internet.
@MacBalance @Eggfreckles I still miss the control strip. And the fact you could drag windows to the bottom of the screen and they became little tab folders that was one of the most cool power user thing you could do. It was a Dock before they were docks ..
Especially for things like applications

@Warlockofwires @Eggfreckles I never used NeXT but kind of interested in how it’s dock seemed to also have control-strip like features to display data and provide access to controls.

Late era classic macOS did get a little busy with window edge space I guess. The tabs you mention pushed the Control Strip up a bit (or overlapped). Lots of fun ideas though.

My Cranky Old Man thought for the moment is we’re lost a lot of the “personal” of PCs.

@MacBalance bring back Platinum you cowards!
@Eggfreckles back when UI was actually usable because we had color, depth, and detail.
@Eggfreckles I have a MacBook Pro running it just for nostalgia. It gets pretty boring because there is not much you can do with it. I love the color scheme and skeuomorphic elements of the UI. The 3D dock is the most refined too. And the icons, the icons gloriously intricate and detailed. I think it was the worse decision to switch to the #iOS style icons. Icons have just gotten bad since 10.10. I hope Apple goes back or provides the option for classic OS X icons again.
@adacosta the last version of Mac OS I ran on my primary machine until Apple Silicon.
@Eggfreckles I have never said I was ‘bored’ with an OS UI before, but current MacOS just feels too flat sometimes. I kss the charm of older UI widgets,
@Eggfreckles I just wish we got the spaces previews immediately upon entering Mission Control. I hate that I have to move the cursor up there to preview the spaces I have open.
