Day #1 in the High Atlas, #Morocco. A rather unexpected (but welcome in a country suffering from a too long drought) cloudy day saw us enjoying the surprising botanical variety of the Plateau du Kik and the dry lands of Agafay.
The highlights of the long and successful day #2 in the High #Atlas sure were the Narcissus romieuxii and the Moroccan hairstreak (Tomares mauretanicus), both found somewhere near Amizmiz.
Day #3 of the High Atlas trip was spent exploring a side valley of the N’Fiss river, with flocks of choughs and the Algerian-Moroccan endemism Rhodanthemum gayanum as the best plant of the day.
Day #4 in the High #Atlas was spent up and down the long N’Fiss valley, surrounded by a fabulous nature and a striking landscape but also, sadly, by the extensive devastation caused by last year's earthquake.
Today, day #5 of the trip, was spent mostly above 2000 m in the #Toubkal NP, and the highlight sure were the many Narcissus bulbocodium, even if their site has never been so dry since we started coming here...
After saying goodbye to the “Sel d’Ailleurs” late flights allowed us to spend a few hours in #Marrakech: first in the beautifully restored “Jardin Secret”, then in a few shops and finally walking (under a blazing sun) around the Koutoubia before heading to the airport.
The delightful prospect of warm October days with a wonderful show of autumn flowers and a rich variety of birds, butterflies and dragonflies is no doubt an appealing one. Add in a mix of the unspoilt…
