Extending Trump's tax cuts will cost $3.5 trillion over a decade.

This is why Trump wants to cut Social Security.

So he can take a lifetime of earned benefits away from working people and gift it to the rich.

It's reverse Robin Hood.

@rbreich social security is doomed. No "citizen" of the failed states of America under fifty or so stands any chance of seeing a dime of it

@rbreich

"Reverse Robin Hood" ... is what they want. It's (literally) in Rand's 'Shrugged.

Make no mistake: they're proud of it.

@rbreich

"Make America 12th Century England Again"

-Burning of Witches was okay!
-Church and Nobility controlled everything!
-All sorts of shit was made of gold!
-Nobody could read!
-Robin Hood* wasn't born yet!

*yeah I know he was fictional, still.

@rbreich SAme idea in the UK, but the Tories aren't quite so daring. All the British hypocrisy called 'levelling up' when wealthy southern Tory (right wing) constituencies get the money, not the poor northern ones. #Tories
@rbreich not just a "benefit", but an investment we've all paid into with our own money. When I make payments into social security, it's not all that different than when I pay into my 401k. And to take it away would be theft in my eyes
@rbreich There was a time in my life when I hit the limit taxable amount on Social Security contributions - I was very surprised that such a ting existed! Raise it to, oh, $400,000. The super rich will still be super rich, and they won't have to deal with pitchfork wielding people earning under 400K torching their McMansions and defective Teslas.
Economics is in 'disarray', having placed efficiency before ethics and human well-being, says Nobel laureate

A Nobel Prize-winning economist has criticised the foundations of mainstream economics, writes Gareth Hutchens.

@rbreich So… ‘hood robbin’?

@rbreich I have been paying into social security for 42 years. I have to work seven more years to Audible qualify for "full" benefits.

EARNED benefit.

NOT ENTITLEMENT!
