I keep seeing a post about blind people being mad at sighted people. It's made me think honestly. Of course there are things sighted people can do that I wish I could, loads of them. But what would be the point of being mad at other people because they can do what I can't? It's just such a complete waste of energy which I'd rather devote to finding ways of doing the things I want to do. I might just as well be mad at people who have healthy kidneys, or people who have generally better health than I do, or ... the list would go on and on if I thought like that. I'd rather count the many blessings I have, find ways to change what I can if I need to and accept the things I can't. I totally realize everyone's different, but that's my take on it anyway.
@lulu_bear Nobody can do everything, so if everyone was angry with anyone else who can do more than them, the world would be a very angry place. So accepting how we are is a very good plan as far as I'm concerned, even if it's normal to wish we could do more.
@frog67 Amen and amen! Wishing we could do more is a natural thing. Being mad at others because of what we can't do and they can isn't. In my view anyway.
@lulu_bear I haven't seen posts where people get upset over abilities, but I have seen posts where people get upset over assumptions (thinking things are broken/need to be fixed) or where different abilities are ignored in services/technologies rolled out "to the public".
Maybe I'm just not reading the others - sounds like it would be upsetting.
@lulu_bear I am in complete agreement with you.
@lulu_bear I agree. And being mad all or much of the time is so unhealthy. It doesn't help to win friends and influence people either. :-)
@lulu_bear I honestly don't understand this. One can always find a reason to be mad at someone else for whatever reason. Sight isn't part of the deck I was dealt. would it have been cool to have it? Of course. But then I'd be lacking something else that would make me mad in turn so what's the point of dwelling on what I can't change?
@ShortStamp I totally agree. I didn't understand it either.
@lulu_bear Seems like everyone has to be mad at other people for something, though if you think about it, it's a form of an anger issue, because sighted people can't help that they're sighted. It's not like they just woke up one day and said, hey let's be blind. I agree with you. I am blessed every day to have my hearing and my taste and my sense of smell.
@lulu_bear I've never understood blind people being mad at sighted people or disliking them. It's just entirely too much work. But i agree with everything you've said in this post.
