The thing about franchise films, like Marvel or Sony's Spider-man Universe, is that they function exactly like any other type of franchise under capitalism. They start out great! They even get better! They do novel and cool things. And then they slowly, or not so slowly, ground down by the relentless pursuit of profit, morphed into the Big Mac you have either because you can't be arsed, can't afford anything better, or can't find anything better, and think "you know, the ingredients still make sense, if only they were of a better quality and the person who made it was actually invested in the making of this product and not desperately trying to make rent. It's a shame, really."

On the upside, 'Madame Web' features The Cranberries 1992 banger 'Dreams' over the end credits.
