A chore is a chore is a chore - Lemmy.World

You okay, OP?
I kind of had the same question

Kind of you to ask! I am okay thanks, I just thought I’d share a moody comic (it’s a moody day, I guess) but it’s not a big deal or anything lol

Appreciate the sentiment ^^

I feel this comic. I think it’s a mood a great many people are having these days. Our society is sick, and the ones on the bottom are being disproportionately exposed to the worst of it.

It’s a very good idea to ask folks the question above (are you okay?), but I also can understand and really appreciate that someone drew this for the sake of dark humor, and/or societal commentary.

In short, I really appreciate it.

Link worked for me but that’s my home instance so that might have something to do with it. I’m also using Sync for Lemmy so the dev might have accounted for community links in the code.

Type a “!” then start typing the community you want to link to, at least the beginning part of it to and you’ll get:

Chores are chores and a horse is a horse of course, of course.

Chores are chores and a horse is a horse of course, of course.

Wow, never expected to see a Mr Ed reference in this day and age.

I like the art style of only having color on the edges of objects. Really sets the mood.
could be depressed. Personally working out helped me sleep. good sleep instead of exhaustion sleep helps the other stuff. make sure you are taking a multivitamin too just in case you are deficient in something (iron or vitamin c are possibilities if you aren’t eating vegetables.)
If you focus on getting good sleep everything else falls in place.

This is not true for everyone. We all have different reasons for similar feelings like this. I sleep great but still feel like this. Oversleeping is also a sign of depression.

For me, getting my diet under control and truly understanding what my body needs has helped tremendously (more fiber/protein, less carbs/sugars). Introducing daily probiotics has helped too. It really is amazing how our diets affect our moods.

For some, regular exercise may help. For others, sun lamps help with seasonal depression. Sometimes you need medication. Sometimes weed helps.

Always talk to a professional. Try different things until you figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Wow, sorry I didn’t cover every possible aspect of the human experience in a silly comment on a comic. Fuck me, right?
People dealing with these types of issues are just a little tired of hearing “just go for a walk, drink some water, and go to sleep” from everyone, nothing personal.
I don’t think they were challenging you, but instead just wanted to express/share their own experience.
Lol when you’re constantly told that the solutions to your sleeping disorders are to “just go to sleep”, or that the solution to your ADHD is to “just focus”, it gets pretty tiring.
Shot, speak for youself. I’m so damn tired all the time I can fall asleep any time, anywhere, if given the opportunity.
*except when I want to sleep. Then I’m awake until three at night.

I’m fairly sure whoever made this was speaking purely for themselves, and for anyone who feels the same and could use knowing they aren’t alone. 👍

Glad you don’t have problems falling asleep though. I’m the same mostly.

Have you ever checked for hypothyroidism? I was feeling exactly like you described for 2 years. Then, with a blood test, I discovered I had hypothyroidism and started treating it. Feeling a lot better now.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually delayed sleep phase disorder. I have a naturally nocturnal sleep cycle. I feel energized at 2am. But I have to work during the day.

But also, I work 60 hour weeks, which is draining no matter what your sleep cycle.

I have a naturally nocturnal sleep cycle. I feel energized at 2am.

Some scientists say we all do, and trying to sleep just the one eight hour cycle is actually not the best way for us to sleep, but instead two 4-Hour cycles works best.

That’s why a lot of countries have an afternoon break, and then they work into the early evening after the break.

Nah, most people are energized by blue light, 9 or 10am is peak productivity. At least from the research I’ve seen.
aren’t depressions fun?
Sounds a lot like adhd to me but Im no doctor.
Yes, but depressive periods not normally.
Ah yes, me entire existence
What 👏is 👏 the 👏 point 👏 anymore.
As 👏 if 👏 there 👏 ever 👏 was 👏 one

You got it. Things happen and your experience is largely defined by how you react to them, which is arguably by varying degrees even under your control due to biology, the environment you are in and were raised in, and many other factors you are not personally responsible for.

You don’t have to assign a value of “good” or “bad” to things. When I say that I don’t mean things where people are harmed. I mean things like having to wash the dishes. I like doing it now, because I stopped thinking about it like a bad thing.

Your brain is just a big overhyped pattern-based machine. You can reprogram it if you want to. Try to make a habit of something that you think will be positive and I can almost guarantee you there won’t be regrets. Shit, if you’re gonna be depressed anyway you might as well get a dune popcorn bucket out of it.

Really hoping this lsd treatment becomes widely available because it’s just not as easy to get on the street as it used to be and it really can help with depression. Psychedelics saved my life, I promise you that.

I like doing it now, because I stopped thinking about it like a bad thing. Your brain is just a big overhyped pattern-based machine.

Except not all brains are wired the same, nor do all bodies work the same. You being able to “think” yourself in to enjoying doing dishes is good for you, but really not the answer and definitely not a “guarantee” for everyone (because there is a large range of mild to serious mental and physical illness that mean “thinking” things away isn’t an option. Also sever poverty and daily subjection to things like racism have a massive impact on everything in life, including processing and coping with the world).

I appreciate your concern, and would refer you to the “factors beyond your control” paragraph.
We 👏 will 👏 we 👏 will 👏 rock you
The only appropriate use of the clapping emoji.
But the claps are in the wrong place
My doctor said I got the clap in the wrong place🙁
A little bit of extra clap never hurt anybody.
Well that’s the ADHD version of the song.
Is that emoji only used for clapping, or does it do double duty for slapping?

What 👏 is 👏 the 👏 point 👏 anymore.

You climb the mountain because it’s there. Or for the journey, and not the destination. Or for making it to the top. Something, along those philosophicallysmarty lines.

This reminds me of Sloth from Fullmetal Alchemist.
when things get too real for me_irl - Lemmy

For relatable posts that are too real for !me_irl [https://lemmy.ml/c/me_irl]. Meaning jokes/posts about mental health issues and self deprecating humour. This is a subreddit for memes that hit too close to home or are too real for communities like !me_irl [https://lemmy.ml/c/me_irl] If you have depression, talk to a therapist, it really does help. You are not alone, and recovery is possible and worth it. If you find jokes about suicide, depression or self harm upsetting, this sub might not be the right place for you. This is a place for people who use self deprecating humor as a coping mechanism, not for those making fun of mental illness. With that out of the way, the rules are as follows: - Asking for upvotes/downvotes will get you banned. And any other vote related bullshit for that matter. - Posts MUST be in some way “too real” or hit to close to home. If it doesn’t make you laugh and feel sad at the same time, don’t post it here. Posts that do not fit the sub may be removed. - Being edgy doesn’t make a post good. Post content that you find a bit too relatable, not something making fun of people with depression. - Posts should be titled 2meirl4meirl or some variation, but other titles are fine for shitposts self posts. - Be supportive. Most people here are going through something, and sometimes all it takes to improve a shitty day is just a little kindness from an Internet stranger. - Racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, any other form of discrimination and general dickishness will not be tolerated. - Mark NSFW content as such. And please don’t post NSFL content. - Reposts are allowed, but discouraged - Don’t link to an image if it won’t be there permanently. Basically, just don’t link to files hosted on 4chan. - Again, please don’t be an asshole.

I feel panel one the most, I hate waking up the most because my sleep quality is so poor that I’m tired all day
yikes what the actual hell, it is seriously disturbing how many people in the comments feel this way

From personal experience I can say depression, anxiety, constant pain and any disease that affects your energy levels will make you feel like this.

When you wake up feeling completely done everything after is effort.

I know why people feel this way, its shocking and upsetting so many people do
Lol, welcome to earth
Why wake up if at the end of the day you are just going to end up going to sleep again?

Life is what you make of it.

Get after it, then
One must imagine Sisyphus happy.
I hate this feeling. I wish I wasn’t so lazym I need to shower more but it’s so much work
I kinda struggled with this. I wasn’t able to get up and shower unless I had to be somewhere. The shame overrode my broken brain and that’s basically how I survived university.

It’s not going to be a fix for everyone, but if you feel like this guy, you should check to see if you’ve got the rare form of the MTHFR Gene, which means you’ll be up to 80% deficient of methylfolate.

Methylfolate is what our body turns folic acid into. It’s a base element that our bodies use to function properly. If you’ve got an extreme deficiency, well, things just aren’t functioning properly. People affected with this will have lived with these issues their whole lives.

Now, up to 60% of the population has a mild form of MTHFR, so the gene itself isn’t uncommon, it’s the rare form you’ll be looking for.

Anyway, getting on a high dose of methylfolate changed my life, life from night to day, I’m not kidding. I still take medication for anxiety and depression, but the methylfolate helps them to function like they’re supposed to.

Again, it’s not a fix for everyone, but on the off chance you have it, I’d check it out.

MTHFR Gene

For some strange reason when I read that I was imagining Samuel L Jackson reprising his role from Snakes on a Plane.

They do call it The MotherFucker gene, lol
