@MikeDunnAuthor Tell me you don't live in the North without telling me you don't live in the North. 😄
@upon_the_shore @MikeDunnAuthor Now imagining Iceland’s economy cratering in deep winter because there’s only four hours of proper daylight. (But then total burnout as people work 24/7 throughout June.)
@MikeDunnAuthor that depends on the time of year. Finally getting to the time of year when it's still light when I get home from work

@MikeDunnAuthor This is why the traditional Japanese time system is genius!

@nikodemus @MikeDunnAuthor Wow, that was a fascinating read; thanks for sharing :)

@MikeDunnAuthor achievable by working 5 hours a day in the winter, and 14 hours a day during the summer.

Guess, 8 hours is approximation here over the full year.

@MikeDunnAuthor nice, so 1 hour work at most, all winter 😁
@MikeDunnAuthor We shouldn't have to leave home for work at all!

@MikeDunnAuthor This is worsened by the American lifestyle of walking into a dark garage to get in one's car then driving to another dark parking garage at work then back.

Walking/biking to work/school allows built-in time for fresh air and sun during one's commute. Because of this lifestyle, I spend at least two hours in the sun every day. Even for those taking the train, they still need to walk/bike to the station.

@MikeDunnAuthor reduced working hours would be great and are attainable but working to when there's light just wouldn't work in a modern context nearer the poles.

Even in Southern England it's dark at 330 in winter and 2200 in summer - both extremes bring problems, and there are plenty of people more northerly than that!

@MikeDunnAuthor @stavvers but… we live too far up our stupid tilted orb. There’s only so much light to go around.

(Sorry to have a boring response.)

@MikeDunnAuthor where I live there are days in the winter when the sun is up for four or five hours.
@MikeDunnAuthor “so we don’t have to ration The Sun” is the hardest reason i’ve ever read in my life actually
