Great Lakes Day began in 1986 as an initiative to bring together members of Congress, states represented by the Great Lakes Commission, labor unions and environmental organizations to lobby for Great Lakes interests. Throughout the week, IJC Commissioners emphasized our role as an impartial, science-focused organization that convenes, facilitates, and promotes collaboration in #WaterStewardship.
