Douglas Hofstadter's book is concerned directly with the nature of "maps" or links between formal systems. However, according to Hofstadter, the formal system that underlies all mental activity transcends the system that supports it.
@appassionato @bookstodon A good compliment to this book is to think about the #philosophy of #dialetheism. Its response to the paradoxes of self-reference is to simply accept the contradictions they imply as true. For example, the following sentence:
This sentence is false.
is both true and false according to dialetheism
