BBC says a British judge ordered Trump to "pay a six-figure legal bill to a company founded by a former British spy that he unsuccessfully sued for making what his lawyer called โ€œshocking and scandalous" false claims that harmed his reputation."

What the BBC didn't say is that Trump, based on his record of stiffing people, will never, ever pay this judgment.

Trump is ordered to pay legal fees after failed lawsuit over the Steele dossier

@dangillmor

Trump won't pay unless he is forced to. If he has any businesses in the UK just seize them now!

@dangillmor He won't voluntarily pay. But perhaps there are assets in the UK that could be seized (at least if he doesn't manage to become president again).
@not2b @dangillmor Don't think British judges are likely to GAF that he's president.
@dangillmor What's really wild is that the UK has terrible, terrible libel laws, making just way too easy to sue anybody over anything they say, and Trump wasn't suing them for libel. Instead, he was suing them for publicly releasing something confidential. He wasn't arguing that the Russians don't have kompromat on him, merely that nobody should have known about it.
@dangillmor There exists machinery via treaties and International law that does allow one to enforce a judgement in country A in country B. But it's not easy and not certain. (And it can involve using Foreign Office and State Dept mechanisms that are not familiar to most people.)
