@willoremus @paninid @cqz NIST is pretty important for a lot of reasons, keeper of standards (measurements , cryptographic, etc) being one of them. It's sad to see it waste away like this.

@willoremus @cqz AI companies are burning money, at least the ones running LLMs. ChatGPT and similar hyperpowered chatbots use too much energy, and far too few people are willing to pay for that shit. Every time anyone uses such a chatbot, the company behind it loses a lot of money.

I wonder how the US military would perform without GPS. Has there ever been a full scale GPS-down drill in the military? If not, they know it would be a disaster.
