Every news story about Biden "failure" on immigration should emphasize that a) the Democrats caved into essentially all of the Republicans' demands; b) the Republicans then torpedoed the legislation anyway; and c) the Republicans explicitly acknowledged that their reason for killing it was to avoid giving Biden anything he could use in his re-election campaign.

The fact that very, very few Americans know this is just one more atrocious -- but typical -- failure of journalism.

Several respondents said "Thinking about it. He seems to be doing the work OK. I'm not sure why I think..." but then we hung up on them.

@dangillmor folks, “caving to all republican demands” is not an effective means of convincing republican voters to vote democrat. it’s like saying “i copied all the recipes of the popular restaurant down the street and people still aren’t coming to mine instead.” i’m appalled by how many times i’ve been made to articulate this obviousness in recent weeks…little wonder we’re in for 2016 redux…

personaly, I'm very happy that garbage bill didn't pass, as you say, it's basicaly giving the republicans everything they could ever want i.e. destroying the lives of millions of migrants, militarizing the border etc.

Yes, much of the journalism around it is appalling. Also, people have their heads in the sand.

@dangillmor It was reported on MSNBC, PBS, CNN, the NYT, and the Post, along with every late night show. The problem isn't journalists, it is that the Trump cult doesn't listen to honest news sources.

@dangillmor Biden's failure is not fighting back - We are a nation of immigrants and we need to tell those who say there is a problem with immigration that they are wrong. Because nobody fights the "illegal immigration" message many are being swayed to think there is a problem.

the only problem I see with immigration is I have to wait 3 hours to get back into the US at time.
