Shingles is annoying in the sense of "agonizingly painful to the point of being disabling". It kills very few people (less than 1 in 1 million who have shingles), but a substantial percentage of victims experience long-lasting nerve pain, loss of vision, and other complications. Is it as bad as TB? No. Is it more than "annoying"?

Yes.
