@likesoldmacs i fully expect this not to count, since this is a replacement i did several years ago, and this photo is of the replacement lithium battery. thought i'd share in any case, and make my own donation.
the cube is really cool in that the pram battery is fully separated from the circuit boards, in its own little floating holster underneath the hard disk, such that if it leaks, the death juice should just land on the vent grille
@vy what a beautiful setup! And that's super cool how they made it accessible, reminds me of the eMac design a bit where they finally did it right.

3AAs will get you to 4.5 as well. Some people wire up little harnesses so a 3 battery holder is just hanging off the back of the computer. But the 630/6200/6300 don't need batteries to function too!

me too. somehow even the RTC chip survived, literally millimeters away from the battery,
@likesoldmacs battery removed from an iMac G3 with a faulty flyback transformer, which unfortunately I had to get rid of before I could fix it (on account of moving to another country).
I posted this on Mastodon at the time I removed it, and instantly had a reply guy trying to tell me that PRAM batteries don't leak ๐
